REHADAT - Information System on the Vocational Rehabilitation of the Disabled

Commissioned by the Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales (Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs) the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln has established REHADAT as an information system to support the vocational integration of the disabled. Eight databases with various aspects like technical aids, vocational rehabilitation and training etc. offer detailed information for disabled people and advisors involved in rehabilitation.

DIAS, as a documentation center, contributes to the construction and maintenance of REHADATs technical aid database. This database contains more than 22.000 products, documenting nearly all available aids for disabled people in Germany.

DIAS together with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, medical technicians and sociologists evaluates the supply of products in the fields:

• Aids for therapy and training
• Mobility aids
• Aids for disabled friendly home arrangement
• In- and output equipment for computers

In order to appraise and compare the product supply, DIAS use detailed and comprehensively defined specifications.
